Jan Pot

“Extremely talented individuals who are excellent at putting together your case in the best possible light.” – Managing Intellectual Property IP Stars

Jan Pot (admitted to the bar in 2013) is a litigator to his core, specialising in complex civil litigation where intellectual property and technology are involved.

Jan joined Brinkhof in 2013 as a patent litigator. He has extensive experience litigating complex national and international patent disputes before the Dutch Courts, as well as before the European Patent Office. He has particular experience in pharmacological and mechanical patents.

Outside of patent litigation, Jan coordinates Brinkhof’s litigation practice, teaming up with subject-matter experts across the firm in complex, high-stakes litigation, including cartel damages claims and class actions under the Dutch WAMCA regime.

Jan is also admitted to bar of the Supreme Court of the Netherlands, and spearheads all of Brinkhof’s Supreme Court litigation, often in close coordination with the other attorneys at Brinkhof. He is one of only a handful of Supreme Court litigators who specialise in IP and technology matters.

Before joining Brinkhof and being called to the bar, Jan clerked at the District Court of Amsterdam for several years. Jan studied law in Amsterdam (University of Amsterdam) and New York (Columbia Law School).
