Experience & ancillary activities
Quinten graduated cum laude with a Master’s in Private Law from the University of Groningen in 2022. Prior to that, he completed a Master’s in IT law and specialised in IT Law and Dutch Law while studying for his Bachelor’s. Quinten has a strong affinity with the legal aspects of IT and innovation. During his studies, he served on the board of the Rechtswinkel Groningen legal advice centre and worked as a research assistant at the University of Groningen on research projects focusing on privacy and media law. Quinten was admitted to the Dutch bar in 2023. He regularly publishes articles on case law at the intersection of privacy law and technological innovation.
Some of the cases Quinten Pilon has handled:
- litigating against Dutch regulators under the General Data Protection Regulation and the Telecommunications Act;
- Successfully represented a player in the postal market in proceedings before the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets and the District Court of Rotterdam.
- Advised and represented a well-known retailer in enforcement proceedings before the Dutch Data Protection Authority concerning the processing of personal data through the use of cookies.
- Assisted a telecom provider during an investigation and enforcement proceedings by the Dutch Authority for Digital Infrastructure.
- advising on complex privacy and data protection law issues relating to the national and international transfer of personal data, cookies, data breaches, data subjects’ rights and cybersecurity;
- advising on the application of European and Dutch telecoms legislation in relation to electronic communications networks and services, consumer law, radio frequencies, and foreign direct investments (WOZT/VIFO);
