Rien Broekstra (admitted to the Bar in 2014) is mainly active in the fields of Dutch and European patent law with an emphasis on cases relating to electrical engineering and telecommunication.
Rien received his MSc degree in Telematics from Twente University, Enschede, in 2007. He then worked as an entrepreneur in the field of IT infrastructure for health care practitioners. In 2014 Rien earned his LLM degree in Information Law at the University of Amsterdam. His graduate research concerned positive obligations of the state arising from article 10 of the European Convention on Human Rights as a result of the developments in internet services and social media.
Rien is fluent in German and English.
