Erik is paralegal at Brinkhof and specialises in media and platform law.

Experience & ancillary activities
Erik has been working at Brinkhof since early 2026. Prior to that, he worked as a legal counsel at an international consultancy firm, where he was involved in a wide range of IT law matters, including the regulation of online platforms and artificial intelligence. He was also seconded to a European telecom provider, where his work focused primarily on European legislation relating to artificial intelligence.

Erik completed a master’s degree in Private Law, specialising in intellectual property law, and a master’s degree in Law & Technology in Europe (IT law) at Utrecht University. As part of this programme, he wrote his thesis on the permissibility of online influence techniques (dark patterns) under the EU Unfair Commercial Practices Directive. In addition, in 2026 Erik completed the postgraduate specialisation course ‘IT, Data & Law’ at the Grotius Academy.
