Lilia Bouzoraa

Lilia is an attorney-at-law, Dutch patent attorney and UPC representative at Brinkhof. In addition, she is training to qualify as a both a Dutch and European patent attorney. Lilia mainly advises and litigates in the field of Dutch and European patent law. She has experience with proceedings before the Dutch courts as well as the European Patent Office and the UPC.

Lilia is a member of ChIPs, Young EPLAW, and the Orde van Octrooigemachtigden.
Lilia studied Bio-Pharmaceutical Sciences and Civil Law at the same time. In 2022, she graduated cum laude in both disciplines from Leiden University, earning an MSc and an LLM degree. For her pharmaceutical thesis, Lilia conducted research for a year on combining soft robotics and organ-on-chip technologies as a means of advancing in vitro drug research. She wrote her legal thesis on the Orphan Drug and SPC regulations in a broader pharmaceutical and economic context.
During her studies, Lilia spent almost five years working at the Dutch Transplant Foundation (NTS) where she was responsible for the medical screening of tissue donors. She also completed multiple internships, including one at a company manufacturing generic pharmaceuticals.

• Representing the Broad Institute of Harvard and MIT in multiple multi-opponent oppositions relating to CRISPR technology at the European Patent Office.
• Acting for Sandoz in a case regarding the compound patent on enzalutamide
• Acting for High Point in a patent dispute with KPN concerning the centrally limited version of High Point’s telecommunications patent.
• Representing Genevant and Arbutus in UPC proceedings regarding Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine
