Wouter Fledderus

Paralegal

Wouter is a paralegal at Brinkhof, where he supports the team in proceedings before the Unified Patent Court (UPC). As a UPC paralegal, he is involved in preparing procedural documents, conducting legal research and analysing developments within the UPC. In this role, Wouter has focused on the procedural practice of the UPC and is developing specialised expertise in this European system for patent litigation.

Experience & ancillary activities
Wouter’s early interest in intellectual property law led him to study law. At Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, he completed the Master’s programme in Internet, Intellectual Property and ICT at the end of 2023. His master’s thesis focused on copyright limitations for text and data mining under the DSM Directive, with particular attention to applications of generative AI.

During and after his studies, Wouter gained practical experience as a paralegal at specialised law firms in the field of intellectual property and litigation practice. In addition, he was active as a volunteer legal advisor at VluchtelingenWerk and held a board position at ELSA Leiden.
