Brinkhof strengthens litigation practice
Brinkhof is pleased to announce the addition of Amber van Vugt as counsel to its Dutch litigation practice. She joins our market-leading and expanding team defending international technology clients in a wide range of high-value class actions and damages claims across competition, privacy, consumer and digital services law.
Amber was admitted to the Bar in 2017 and has since practised at three leading Amsterdam firms – two top-tier Zuidas firms and a specialised litigation boutique. She has extensive experience advising and representing national and international companies in complex commercial disputes, with a particular focus on collective actions and follow-on competition litigation. In this capacity, she has acted in several significant competition damages cases that have contributed to developments in the case law of the Court of Justice of the European Union. Her practice further encompasses disputes relating to contractual and tortious liability, procedural law, private international law, consumer law, and corporate law.
Brinkhof is an Amsterdam-based European law firm with a strong focus on innovation, technology and market regulation. Chambers Europe gives it Tier 1 rankings for six practice areas, and personal recommendations for each of its partners. The firm excels at supporting global technology, media and AI companies throughout the regulatory lifecycle, including through strategy and product counselling, regulatory investigations and complex litigation.
Amber van Vugt: “I am delighted to join Brinkhof, a firm whose specialist expertise is truly unique in the market. In complex proceedings, I believe in being an accessible and reliable sparring partner for both clients and colleagues – strategic, collaborative, and meticulous, always thinking ahead to anticipate and address potential risks at an early stage, while remaining focused on the broader interests at stake. I look forward to working with the team on high-profile disputes and contributing to the continued growth of Brinkhof’s litigation practice.”
Pepijn van Ginneken, competition partner at Brinkhof: “We are absolutely thrilled that an up-and-coming litigation star like Amber has chosen to join Brinkhof. Amber is creative and pragmatic, with broad experience across civil litigation and a particular focus on competition cases and class actions. Her arrival will further strengthen our leading position in defending technology companies in high-stakes litigation before the Dutch courts.”
