Anne Bruna

Anne is a lawyer at Brinkhof who specialises in media, copyright and information law. She publishes articles on these topics in legal journals on a regular basis. Anne is fluent in Dutch, English and French and litigates not only in the Netherlands but also in Belgium and at the Court of Justice of the European Union. The area of law she has registered at the Dutch bar is information law.
Media regulation and the responsibilities of online platforms
Anne specialises in advising and litigating on the responsibilities of online platforms, particularly regarding IP rights, the Digital Services Act, and other European and national regulations. She also provides legal counsel and represents media companies in matters related to European and Dutch media regulation, as well as the Dutch Open Government Act (Woo).
Experience & ancillary activities
Anne was admitted to the Dutch bar in 2018, after graduating cum laude the previous year with a Master’s in International Business Law from VU University Amsterdam. Prior to that, she completed her Master’s in Information Law at the University of Amsterdam. Eager to expand her expertise, Anne pursued an additional LLM (Master of Laws) in Competition, Innovation and Information Law at New York University School of Law. She also spent a semester studying at the Université Panthéon-Assas in Paris. Anne joined Brinkhof in 2018.
Some of the cases Anne Bruna has handled:
- litigated before the Belgian Council of State and the Court of Justice of the European Union on behalf of a European media service provider on the resolution of conflicts of jurisdiction;
- litigated in proceedings on behalf of Nieuwsuur against the Dutch Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport at the Council of State;
- various proceedings on issues including the ‘right to be forgotten’ under the GDPR, portrait rights, and unlawful business practices.
