Sjo Anne Hoogcarspel

Sjo Anne Hoogcarspel (admitted to the Bar in 2006) joined Brinkhof as counsel on 1 February 2016.

Sjo Anne advises and litigates on a broad range of cases in the areas of Intellectual Property, with a focus on trademarks, copyrights, designs and advertising. She has broad experience in litigating before both national courts and European institutions like OHIM and the Court of Justice of the EU.
 
She also advises art institutions on Art law and is specialised in licenses, distribution, franchising, agency and other commercial contracts in the areas of IP and Art law. Further, she regularly advises on IP aspects in M&A transactions.

Sjo Anne is a member of specialist associations AIPPI, Marques, BMM, the Association for Advertising Law, the Association for Distribution, Franchise and Agency (DFA) and the Association for Art, Culture and Law. She regularly publishes and gives lectures on subjects relating to her practice.

Before joining Brinkhof, Sjo Anne worked as an IP lawyer at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP and Klos Morel Vos & Reeskamp. She also worked in Düsseldorf for KPMG Law. 

Sjo Anne studied at the University of Maastricht (LL.M in Civil Law and European Law) and the University of Amsterdam (LL.M in Information law and B.A. in Art History).
